Event for Commemorating AFPRO-SDC partnership of 30 years

An event to commemorate the AFPRO-SDC Partnership will be organized on 13th September 2010 at the India International Center, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi from 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm. Prof. K.V. Thomas, Minister of State for Agriculture, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution will be the Chief Guest and H.E. Mr. Philippe Welti, Switzerland Ambassador to India will be the Guest of Honour of the Event.

National Conference on Cost Effective Sustainable Sanitation: An Indian Experience

The recently concluded National conference on Sanitation brought together over 250 delegates, speakers and other participants from a wide range of disciplines from difference parts of the country, including state TSC coordinators. Ministry of Rural Development, Plan India, UNICEF, Water Aid, WES-Net India, SPHERE India and Water for People (WFP) partnered with WASH Institute and successful completed the conference. The participants were a blend of Water & Sanitation professionals, academicians, researchers, government officials and, interestingly, many retired professionals and laypersons. Though practitioners and researchers represented the majority, the blend clearly reflected the growing interest in sanitation amongst people of all walks of life and an increase in the strength and momentum of the sanitation movement in India.

Squatting with Dignity: Lessons from India

Invitation letter for Round Table Discussion on 21st October 09

The rural sanitation scenario has seen tremendous changes in the last 5 years. To reach the goal of ensuring universal usage of sanitation facilities DDWS organised a one day countable discussion on 21st October, 2009.

SACOSAN III- Delhi Declaration

South Asia Ministerial Conference on Sanitation (SACOSAN III) has ended successfully. Over 1200 participants from South Asia region were participated in the conference and 60 technical papers were presented in 10 thematic sessions. Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Program get a shot in arm Government’s nod to 21,000 strong workforce

Rural drinking water and sanitation flagship programs of NRDWP and Total Sanitation Campaign got a shot in arm today with the Government ’s go ahead to hire the services of about 21,000 young men and women to work for community mobilization, awareness generation campaigns, training and handholding, sanitation and hygiene, water quality surveillance, etc. among Gram Panchayats, Village Water & Sanitation Committees (VWSCs) and Gram Sabhas to enable them to manage their drinking water schemes and achieve total sanitation in their villages.

NWDA Receives 36 Proposals of Intra-State River Links from 7 States

National Water Development Agency (NWDA) under Ministry of Water Resources has received 36 proposals of intra-state links from 7 States viz. Maharashtra, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Orissa, Bihar, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu so far. Out of above, Pre-Feasibility Reports (PFRs) of 12 intra-state links have been completed by NWDA.
